Successful season for Light Ragaz
The light spectacle in the Tamina Gorge near Bad Ragaz thrilled almost 25,000 visitors with spectacular images and mystical sounds from May to October 2021. After six months of play, Light Ragaz is taking a short break and will return in November with the magical winter walk “Lichterglanz in Bad Ragaz”.
Light Ragaz transformed the mystical Tamina Gorge near Bad Ragaz into one of the largest natural canvases for moving images for the fourth time from May 13 to October 16, 2021. For the season in 2021, the makers of the light spectacle surprised with a completely revamped show – visitors enjoyed fascinating images and mystical sounds combined with interactive elements. Almost 25,000 visitors attended the light show in the Tamina Gorge this year. “We are very satisfied with ticket sales and can look back on a successful season,” said Rosa Ilmer, Managing Director at Light Ragaz AG. “After the long break without a single event last year, it’s an indescribable feeling – we are incredibly grateful,” Ilmer continued.
New concept has convinced
After three successful editions around the story of the philosopher and spa doctor Paracelsus, those responsible broke new ground in 2021. The revised concept surprised visitors with an impressive blaze of color paired with the latest technologies in the midst of brute nature. Thanks to the cooperation with the company Espros from Sargans, new standards were set in the field of light art and visitors had the opportunity to project their faces onto the 80m high rock walls of the Tamina Gorge. “The feedback of the guests was great and we are happy that we could touch the hearts of our visitors with the new show as well”, says Rosa Ilmer enthusiastically.
It is already certain that Light Ragaz will return in the summer of 2022. Preparations for next summer’s light spectacle are already underway. Rosa Ilmer promises that storytelling will then once again be more in focus. “We will surprise visitors with a touching story and further develop the overall experience,” Ilmer says.
Magical winter stroll starting in November
For now, however, it will remain dark in the Tamina Gorge. Light Ragaz is taking a short break and will then return on November 20, 2021 with a magical winter walk. The glow of lights in Bad Ragaz surprises young and old with fascinating light art, impressive building facades and decorated squares. As in 2020, the light walk is free of charge thanks to the support of numerous partners. Rosa Ilmer is pleased that the joint project can also be implemented in 2021: “The positive response last winter has motivated us to continue developing the project,” she says. In addition to the free tour of Bad Ragaz, this winter visitors can expect a 20-minute show at the Old Town Hall, an event program for the whole family in the village pool hall, and light art throughout the region. The community project can be supported by purchasing a supporter ribbon. These will be available from mid-November at numerous sales points.
